What the heck is the cloud? Is it the internet? No, but it’s on the internet. Is it good to have my software in the cloud? Yes, there are benefits. There are also risks, but anything digitized has risks. Stealing or hacking has always existed and always will. I would like to think that Amazon’s cloud infrastructure has way more security then my local network, as well as other resources.

Recently, one of my team members passed me this link: https://infrastructure.aws/. This site is a GREAT example of “what” Amazon’s infrastructure is and some descriptions on terms you may or may not be familiar with. To boil it down to simplicity, an application running in Amazon’s cloud is going to have a much better chance of staying up and active than your local desktop computer at your shop.
