leadership

One word – 2018

December 20, 2017

A few years back, I heard a friend tell of a pastor that challenged everyone in the church to pick one word for the new year and seek to live by that one word instead of making some sort of new year’s resolution you won’t keep. I thought it was interesting, gave it a shot, and for the last few years, I’ve continued to pick a new word every year. I’ve also expanded it from one word to phrases.

This new year, my word will be Leadership. It’s simple. I write it down and remind myself that I need to focus on leadership in my day-to-day operations, as well as find training (see my previous blog on the importance I put on that) on how to be a better leader for 2018.

I know a lot of business owners out there that could benefit from this exercise. There are MANY words and phrases you could obviously choose from, and I’ll share the following to provide some food for thought:

Words: Leadership, Technology, Success, Business, Coach, Mentor, Mentee, Learning, Education, Perseverance, Love.

Phrase: How do I eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

Merry Christmas, and good luck in 2018.
