Building a Digital Vehicle Inspection sheet from scratch can be a time-consuming process. Autoflow’s DVI Sheet Builder prompt gives shop administrators and owners a faster path by using a free AI tool to generate a complete, import-ready DVI sheet through a guided conversation.
This training walks through exactly how to use the provided AI prompt and your starter JSON file to build a finished inspection sheet without any manual configuration inside Autoflow.
What You Will Need
Before getting started, make sure you have the following:
- A free AI account at claude.ai or access to any free large language model such as ChatGPT, Gemini, or similar.
- The Autoflow starter JSON file. This is attached below for download, or you can request one by emailing information@autoflow.com.
- A general idea of the categories and line items you want on your sheet. You do not need a complete list before you start.
How it Works
The prompt included in this guide is built on the CRIT framework, which structures the AI as an active thought partner rather than a passive tool. Instead of generating a generic template, the AI will ask you questions one at a time about your shop, your inspection focus, and your preferred language before it builds anything.
The result is an inspection sheet that reflects how your shop actually works.
Steps
Step 1: Open a new conversation in your AI tool
Go to claude.ai or your preferred free AI tool and start a new conversation. Attach the Autoflow starter JSON file, then paste the full prompt from the guide as your first message. Send it with the file attached.
Step 2: Answer the AI’s questions
The AI will interview you one question at a time. Answer in plain language, the same way you would explain your inspection process to a new service advisor. You do not need to use technical terminology. If you are unsure about something it asks, say so and it will work with what you can provide.
Step 3: Review and adjust
Once the AI has gathered everything it needs, it will generate your completed JSON file. Review the output before downloading. If anything needs to change, tell the AI what to adjust. You do not need to start the conversation over.
Step 4: Import into Autoflow
Download the finished JSON file and import it into Autoflow under your DVI sheet settings. Autoflow will assign the real sheet ID automatically on import.
